Sunday, May 12– WorldSongs, Concert at 4:00pm

This is a ticketed event, and all friends and families will need to purchase tickets in advance on the website (“Tickets and Concerts”), or at the door.

  • Call Time: 1:00; drop off stage door on west side and head down to the basement  

  • Where: Sheslow Auditorium at Drake University (2507 University Ave, Des Moines, IA 50311). 

  • Wear: Formal Uniform (Tuxedo with pants, jacket, and white shirt; Dress with black shoes) 

After WorldSongs has concluded there will be New York rehearsals on May 19th (if needed– will be announced in May), May 26th, and June 2nd.


May 26th, 4:30pm - NYC Tour Meeting

All touring singers, families, and chaperones must attend this meeting at 4:30pm at WHLC. Itinerary, packing lists, travel details, and more will be shared at this meeting.


End of Year Assessments May 6-June 1

These will consist of a range check-in, tonal memory, and melodic and rhythmic sight-reading. All times are a 15min slot. These are required for all returning singers.

End of the Season Celebration! (May 19th - 5:00-7:00)

Chamber singers will be setting up the event, and leading activity stations for families throughout the evening after awards and singing have taken place. Signups began at rehearsal, but we need ALL chamber members to help out. Continue signing up at rehearsal, or talk/text/email Mr. Gookin/Mrs. B

  1. Photo Booth Station - bring your phone and share photos to Mrs. B before you go. Set up the station with backdrop and props provided

Friends and Family (not paying through HYC for the trip, but planning to meet us in the city!)

City Voices and HYC present “Vocal Mashup Camp”

June 24-June 28th 9:00am-1:00pm

A high school camp opportunity that includes private voices lessons, and choral ensemble singing. Singers will collaborate in a variety of musical styles. Choral, Jazz, Musical Theatre, and A cappella singing will be explored. The camp will apply these teachings in a performance for family and friends. It also provides live recording options in the City Voices Music Studio, a great opportunity for auditioning singers for college and arts programming outside of Des Moines!

Camp admission - $20

Camp Admission + Individual Voice Lessons - $80
