Iowa composer Elaine Hagenberg is the featured artist for our 2018 Meet the Composer Festival, which will take place on April 6 - 7 at Plymouth Congregational Church in Des Moines.
Hagenberg has written an original composition -- titled "See How the Rose Unfolds" -- for the festival. The song has deep Iowa roots; it was inspired by a poem written by an Iowa woman. More than 500 Iowa singers will be part of the song's world premiere weekend.
Concerts on each day of the festival will feature the music of Hagenberg, who is a rising star in choral music. She is a Drake University graduate and vocal music director at Des Moines Christian School.
Friday's concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
Choirs (high school and above): Heartland Youth Choir Chamber Choir, Grinnell High School, Des Moines Christian School, Grand View University, Central College, and an ensemble from Plymouth Church.
Saturday concert begins at 3:30 p.m.
